"Inspiration and Essentials"

Jana Jarvis, Author of HANDled: Handled, Held and Led by the Hand of God

Step foot into any retailer and see the "holidays" now extend from Halloween to Valentine's Day.  That's almost half a year of "Holiday Inspiration!" and "Holiday Essentials!"  Are marketers setting expectations upon you?

You are in for a sensory treat.  Let's reclaim and rest in the truth from Scripture, the inspiration, essence and aroma of the season ahead.

GEMs of Wisdom from “Inspiration and Essentials” by Jana Jarvis:

Jana, thank you for a beautifully inspiring evening.

SPA THEME!!!!  Dim lighting, music, incense, candlelight, aromatic herbs, perfumes, oils, warm tea, soothing words of wisdom... what did a spa have to do with parenting teens?

It was a gentle reminder for us women to prepare ourselves and set the tone, to be the

FRAGRANCE in our family as we enter the holidays.

The same elements of renewal and relaxation we seek at spa or a retreat center are found in JESUS:

STILLNESS “Be still, and know I am God” Psalm 46:10.

REST   “...for I am gentle and humble in heart...you will find rest in your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11: 28-30.

ESSENTIAL OILS “...you anoint my head with oil...” Psalm 23:5.

WATER “Whoever believes in Me, ...streams of living water will flow from within him.” John 7:38.

LIGHT “...I am the light of the world” John 8:12.

ROCKS “Trust in the Lord forever, the Lord is the rock eternal.” Isaiah 26:4.

MUSIC “The Lord is my strength and my song.” Exodus 15:2, “Sing to the Lord a new song.” Psalm 96:1.

AROMATHERAPY “...Christ loved us and gave Himself up as a fragrant offering..”      Ephesians 5:2.

CAPABLE HANDS “My times are in your hands...” Psalm 31:15.

AWARENESS  Question - Are we more like Mary or Martha during the holidays?                Luke 10: 38-42.
